Is The Secret to a Happier & Healthier Life as simple as Looking Good?
It was two years ago that Jo-Anne Morgan, Director of GLAMM Events, stumbled across results of an online survey which found that women were far more concerned about physical appearance and weight than serious disease. “This resonated with me”, says Jo-Anne, “as it highlighted how important looking good is to females and the knock-on effect it obviously has to our physical and mental well being.” “Let’s face it, if we don’t feel confident about our physical appearance, then we don’t feel confident about any aspect of our lives, so let’s stop cutting ourselves short and be the best we possibly can be!”
Reflecting on her own life and relationships, Jo-Anne has seen how important looking good has meant to her. “Two years ago I came out of a painful divorce. It was an extremely emotional time for me and my children and I felt totally drained from the whole experience. To regain a sense of power and strength, I sought solace in working out – something I have always done – but I needed more of a challenge and eventually became a figure competitor, winning Ms Fit Body (Novice) Vic at the tender age of 42, beating a competitive line up of women half my age. The rush of looking amazing and winning that award recharged my positive outlook and escalated my healing process to no end.”
Last year, Jo-Anne’s mother was diagnosed with bowel cancer, another blow for her family. “While we were so full of angst about whether she would live or die, Mum was more concerned about whether she would lose her hair or not!” muses Jo-Anne. “Due to the new drugs available, she didn’t end up losing her hair and I think that had a lot to do with her relatively speedy recovery”.
Today, Jo-Anne, an experienced Professional Conference Organiser and fitness professional, is devoting her time to making women look good and feel good through her GLAMM Events. Every woman deserves this, for their body, mind and soul! “Obviously the sensation of feeling glamorous is more than skin deep, however a lot of women let the simple things go that make them feel feminine, sexy and “hot” because of their busy lifestyles”, says Jo-Anne. “What makes me happy is showing women how the tiny things, such as receiving a one-on-one fashion makeover to tweaking something small in their health regime, can have a magnificent positive impact to their overall wellbeing and lives.”
